Natural disasters and economic woes have people feeling somewhat apprehensive about the future these days. But the truth is, our children are the ones that have to be prepared to deal with what the future offers ? good or bad.
That?s why several local organizations deserve credit for going above and beyond in the pursuit of educating Culpeper County students and preparing them to be to be leaders for future generations.
The Library of Congress brought its ?Gateway to Knowledge? exhibit to Culpeper County Library last week, offering students and residents alike a literary glimpse into the past.
The traveling exhibit brings high-quality copies of just a taste of the Library?s collection that includes information and historical date about anything and everything.
Several groups of students made the trip to visit the exhibition. The husband-wide duo of Van and Abigail Galder has been all over the country offering this incredibly valuable education experience to children all along the way.
The Galders, and any educators who made sure their class witnessed this exhibit, deserve our thanks because, after all, if we don?t learn from the past, we?re doomed to repeat our mistakes.
Culpeper County students also recently got a chance to take a sneak peak at potential careers during the annual Career Expo at Germanna Community College Daniel Technology Center.
Representative from businesses far and wide were there Tuesday, as almost 1,200 students toured many of the various 33 stations.
It?s incredibly important for young people to begin thinking about what they want to do before they actually find themselves in the job market. Plans don?t always work out, but if you don?t at least have a goal to work toward, you may as well be running in circles.
