Mozart?s Clarinet Concerto is certainly one of his most endearing works.
In the hands of such a sensitive and accomplished player as Elaine Cocks, it really came to life. The added richness of the lower-pitched basset instrument contributed here, but Elaine?s outstanding breath control and dynamic range, neat articulation and, most of all, a truly heartfelt slow movement made this one of the season?s memorable highlights.
