Summer?s here, and everyone is rushing out to buy the latest trendy summer clothes, and the back of everyone?s mind is, have I lost enough weight this year to look good in my beachwear?

If you?ve missed the race to lose the belly, fear not because there?s still plenty of time to trim a few inches off your waist, in a much more efficient way than spending hours on a treadmill.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that the best way to lose fat is to run for ages on a treadmill. While running has its benefits, it?s not the best method out there for the following reasons -

When you first start running you can lose up to 7lbs on a 30 minute run, the weight loss is not fat, it?s loss of water retention, which you will drink back after the run.
Running can become boring very quickly, and few people have the motivation to continue running for long periods of time.
Running is bad for your knees, many long distance runners suffer from arthritis later on in life
Running burns muscle, muscles are important for burning calories (will discuss later)

WHAT ARE KETTLEBELLS?

Kettlebells are simple cannonball shaped cast iron weights with handles on them to hold, while kettlebells are simple enough, they allow for a diver range of motions and exercises due to their simplicity. Kettlebells are originally from Russia, and have become famous in fat loss circuits recently. Even Hollywood stars are adopting them for their superior fat loss benefits.

WHY ARE KETTLEBELLS SO EFFECTIVE FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

Unlike running, kettlebells engage the whole body, not just from waist down. So you?re burning more calories.

But the fundamental reason is that kettlebells build muscles as the exercise requires the individual to shift a moderate amount of weight, roughly for 20 repetitions per exercise. Kettlebells will not make some muscular, but rather just give a little bit of healthy muscle tone.

Muscles are important, because muscles need to be fed 24/7, even when you are not working out. So a kettlebell workout induces both anabolic (building muscle tissue) and catabolic (breaking down of large molecules like proteins) states. Working with kettlebells (weights) also means that you increase your muscle mass slightly, which increases your metabolism and thus your need to burn more calories; even when resting! The same cannot be said for running which reduces your muscle mass and therefore reduces your overall ability to burn calories while resting.

Furthermore, the diverse range of exercises using kettlebells means that you?re never bored of it. You can easily add and remove exercises to your kettlebell workout.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Kettlebells are probably the single most home friendly exercise equipment available, you simply need one kettlebell and you can get started straight away, there are many cheap bells being sold on eBay and craigslist that you can pick up for cheap.

THE KETTLEBELL SWING WORKOUT:

The swing is such a simple technique, but it forms the bread and butter of all kettlebell exercises, and has the power to do some serious fat reduction if done diligently and regularly.

Before beginning this workout, please be aware that you need to consult a physician before starting a weight training or kettlebell programme, if you?ve taken a long time away from exercise you will need to pay particular attention to this advice.

BEGINNERS KETTLEBELL SWING WORKOUT:
If you can?t do a push up, do a half push up with your knees on the floor, start with light weights, men use 35lbs, women use 18lbs

When you first start off doing, one round of this exercise should be enough, as you get more experience you may want to exercise several rounds for 15 minutes, and then increase the exercise by 5 minute intervals to 30 minutes. After hitting 30 minutes of exercise, begin to increase the weight of the kettlebell.

What Are The Various Forms Of Car Leases On Offer To Businesses ...

Car leases come in several different forms. Often a profitable and popular method of vehicle leasing available to businesses and individuals is contract hire. There is a regular monthly payment for the duration of the lease which can include maintenance and breakdown cover. Knowing this fixed amount assists a business/individual to budget accordingly. Two payment options are available, firstly it is possible to pay the leasing contract in monthly instalments which are calculated with interest, alternatively you can repay the lease in smaller instalments with a lump sum paid at the end of the lease.

Interest payments and monthly repayments remain constant as long as the usage parameters for the vehicle leasing, established at the start of the lease, do not change. People should be cautious of finance leases due to the current economic climate, as the final balloon payment at the end of the contract may be more than the vehicle?s value. If you want to use the vehicle after the lease has ended it is possible to do so. You will be required to sign a peppercorn agreement which is paid to the financing company annually. During a peppercorn agreement you do not own the vehicle. If you choose not to use the car any longer it is sold off to a third party with you keeping any earned capital over the value of the car.

A contract purchase allows you to buy the vehicle at a set price determined at the end of the contract. Fixed monthly payments are made, which take into consideration the car?s cost, anticipated mileage and depreciation, and other maintenance and service options the client may choose to include. Contract purchase allows you the freedom to purchase the car if desired but also gives the freedom of allowing you to return it to the financing company.

A lease purchase agreement does not allow you to return the car at the end of the lease as it becomes yours. A single balloon payment is made at the end of the lease to cover the cost of the car.

Sean Kingston Badly Injured In Jet Ski Crash

Hip-hop star Sean Kingston is in critical condition in a Miami Beach hospital after being injured in a bad jet skiing accident Sunday evening ... TMZ has confirmed.

According to Local10.com, the "Beautiful Girls" singer had a female passenger on board his watercraft when it crashed into a bridge around 6 PM local time.

We're told both Kingston and his passenger were rescued from the water by a good Samaritan.

The Miami Fire Dept. responded to the scene and both Kingston and his female passenger were transported to nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital. We're told Kingston's injuries are so severe, he is being treated in the trauma ward.

We're told ... at this moment, officials do not believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

Kingston's rep tells TMZ .... "Sean Kingston was in an accident today. No further details are available at the moment. He and his family thank everyone for the well-wishes."

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

They don't call Rick Ross the Boss for nothing! When it was time to secure distribution for his Maybach Music Group, instead of signing his label over at Def Jam, where he already has a solo artist deal, Rozay made an executive decision and took MMG over to Warner Music Group.

"You know, as a boss you gotta make certain things happen and that's what I was able to do. Me, as a solo artist, we're still at Def Jam Records, I have another album or two. But me being an executive, me being a boss, Maybach Music, I had an opportunity to sow my royal oats," Ross told Sway on Wednesday's "RapFix Live."

Rozay weighed his options and in the end needed a distributor that could keep up with his musical output. "We needed a situation that understood that we could make music at a much quicker rate than a lot of people do. And I wanted to put out music at that same rate," he said. "I think it's obviously, since we closed the deal, maybe a little more than two months later, here we are today, Self Made in stores.

"It's constant meetings and discussions and attorney hours. I got great relationships over at Def Jam, so I was pretty much getting my words across. It basically just came down to what was best for Maybach Music and Warner."

With label offers from Cash Money and Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Records, the Teflon Don decided to take his imprint over to WMG in February. After getting new signees Wale, Meek Mill and Pill in place, the Boss put the label's first compilation, Self Made, on the fast track. Ross wasn't able to bring his group Triple Cs over to WMG, however. Due to a previously signed contract, the three-man group consisting of Gunplay, Torch and Young Bleed will remain over at Def Jam but will still rep MMG.

The MMG CEO finds inspiration in the speed in which he was able to secure the deal and release Self Made. He expects a busy future for Maybach Music and Warner. "Us executing this album the way we did and the way we have is a great example and something to build on as a company and something to look forward to," he said.

EMHS announces new Acadia president ? Health & Fitness ? Bangor ...

BREWER ? Eastern Maine Healthcare System President and CEO Michelle Hood announced that Daniel B. Coffey has been appointed president and CEO of The Acadia Hospital.

Coffey has worked within EMHS for 34 years, currently as executive vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer. He served nine years as president and CEO of Healthcare Charities and six months as interim EMHS president and CEO.

?As we began the search for a new CEO at Acadia, it quickly became obvious that the best candidate was right here in our system,? Hood said. ?[Coffey] is highly regarded across New England as a wise and thoughtful leader. He understands how Acadia and the other members of EMHS work together; the Acadia and EMHS boards of directors know and trust him; and he has previous CEO experience in our system.? Hood added that Coffey also understands Maine?s political and regulatory environment and both small and large hospital clinical and operational matters.

?There is an outstanding clinical and management team already in place at Acadia,? Coffey said. ?My administrative and financial skills will complement efforts to provide exceptional service at a reasonable cost. Acadia provides valuable services for our community, and I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity to lead Acadia in a way that our patients, employees and the community will be proud of.?

Scott Oxley, EMHS vice president and chief accounting officer, will serve as interim chief financial officer for the system.

Honor for president, CEO

BANGOR ? St. Joseph Healthcare President and CEO Sister Mary Norberta was honored May 17 during a Legislative Sentiment Ceremony. At the beginning of the session, state Rep. Michael Celli of Brewer presented the sentiment to Norberta, recognizing her exceptional service and contributions to health care.

The measure recognized Norberta for leading St. Joseph Healthcare for 29 years with the mission of providing holistic healing for all people. She has been a fervent supporter of acquiring new technologies and beginning new programs to further that mission, in addition to serving on the boards and committees of health care organizations throughout the state. Later this year, Norberta will be stepping down from her leadership position at St. Joseph Healthcare in order to pursue new opportunities.

Health center grant

BANGOR ? Penobscot Community Health Care has announced that Capehart Community Health Center, at 86 Davis Road, has received a discretionary grant for $8,750 from the Maine Health Access Foundation.

PCHC will use MeHAF funding to conduct research that will analyze data comparing the health outcomes of patients receiving only mental health care versus those receiving integrated services including mental health care and primary health care.

The MeHAF mission is to promote access to quality health care, especially for those who are uninsured and underserved, and to improve the health of everyone in Maine. MeHAF supports strategic solutions to Maine?s health care needs through grants and other programs.

Aid for stutterers

?Self-Therapy for the Stutterer? is the classic self-help guide by the founder of The Stuttering Foundation, Malcolm Fraser. It is written to and for the many adults and teens who stutter. The 192-page book is available at public libraries including those in Bangor, Carmel, Corinth, Hampden, Old Town and Orono.

?If you stutter, you do not need to surrender helplessly to your speech difficulty, because you can change the way you talk,? said officials of The Stuttering Foundation. ?You can learn to communicate with ease rather than with effort. There is no quick and easy way to tackle the problem, but with the right approach, self-therapy can be effective.?

The book outlines a self-therapy program, with information on what the person who stutters can do to work toward better communication. It often is used as a supplement to speech therapy. A timely feature on Page 164 includes information about King George VI and how inspirational his speeches were during World War II, as depicted in the movie??The King?s Speech.?

The book is available free to all public libraries through the Stuttering Foundation, toll-free at 800-992-9392.

Vascular care facility

BANGOR ? On May 23, EMMC?s Vascular Care of Maine celebrated the opening of a newly renovated procedure room serving patients who are suffering from varicose veins or who need to have an arterial line removed.

?Until recently, these patients required surgery and anesthesia,? said Dr. Ashley Robertson, vascular internist. ?We?re now able to do everything in the office.
