The event started at noon on Saturday and will end at noon on Sunday. Close to 1000 students were expected to participate. Last year, the event had about 800 dancers and raised $26,000. Organizers are looking to top $30,000 this year. The dancers will be kept awake with a variety of activities and special entertainment. Live bands will perform. Four DJs have been recruited to help. And participants will also get Salsa lessons. The UC Dance Team and Marching Band were also planning to make an appearance.
More than 150 colleges across the country are hosting dance marathons this year to support their local children's hospitals.
